Marcia R. Sytsma, Psy.D.

Ms. Marcia Sytsma consults in the areas of selection profiling, research, and testing processes. Her professional emphasis is on improving productivity and organizational effectiveness through finding candidates with the best set of attributes.

Ms. Sytsma is a gifted statistician, with the ability to translate raw data into a clear and compelling picture of an organization and its people. Her analyses give business leaders the information they need to make the best decisions.

She has consulted with organizations of all sizes to help them find the right candidates for their situations. She has summarized psychology research for popular media as well as written, co-authored, and presented research on job analysis, testing, validation, and performance measurement at professional conferences, in journals, and in technical reports.

Prior to working with Olson Consulting Group, Marcia gained more than fifteen years' experience conducting research in multiple settings, and has focused on consulting applications since 1988. After several years' work as a consultant and as Manager of Research for a large consulting firm based in the Twin Cities, she decided to focus on the distinctive consulting opportunities available through a smaller organization. She also spent some time working with state-funded non-profit organizations to develop innovative approaches to evaluate their effectiveness.

Marcia has a Psy.D. degree from Minnesota State University-Mankato and a M.A. degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Minnesota. She is a member of MPPAW (Minnesota Professionals for Psychology Applied to Work). Her primary interests are in the areas of measuring technical skills and personality characteristics, program and training evaluation, and factors affecting the quality of job analysis information. In addition to her work, Marcia volunteers for various projects related to the Bloomington gifted and talented program and curriculum for the Bloomington school district. She is involved in the performing arts at her church and is a marathon runner.
